Elon Musk recently shared an article on twitter that grabbed my attention. It written by Tim Urban and is called “The AI Revolution: The Road to Superintelligence.” After the (really) lengthy read I can now say with confidence this is by far the best article I have ever read on the topic, as well as the most interesting article in my recent memory.
This isn’t just an article for computer geeks. It has implications that will affect every person on this planet one day. It is a very long piece, almost long enough that it could have been made into a full blown book. I’d recommend just getting your feet wet from the first page and then continue on to the second page if you get hooked like I did.
It goes very deep on topics from nano technology, to the Fermi Paradox, to a hypothetical future where the galaxy is filled with handwritten notes and nothing else. I also loved it because there were quotes from Richard Feynman scattered throughout.
I’d recommend this article to anyone who wants to get a taste of what some of the worlds best thinkers have “thunk” up for our future if we keep advancing technology at the exponential rate we are now. I’ll leave you with the most hard hitting quote from the article:
